Vidya Balan who always sets the screen on fire every time she emerges with her power packed performances on screen is now all set to test new waters with the much talked about film ‘Rana’ opposite Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth’s ‘Rana,’ a trilingual that will be made in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu will see the Kollywood superstar playing a triple role, that of a young, middle-aged, and old man.
Vidya Balan to play a middle-aged woman Vidya Balan is the latest edition to the list of heroines after rumors of Deepika and Rekha to be paired opposite Rajnikanth in this big budgeted film surfaced.
Talking about Vidya Balan in ‘Rana’, a source stated, “The makers wanted a girl with a distinctly Indian look and who would click with the South audience well.”
The film has been importing all of Bollywood’s best actresses to play Rajnikanth’s arm candy, and it looks like Vidya Balan will be playing a middle-aged woman in the flick.
Confirming whether Vidya Balan will be portraying the middle-aged woman’s role in the film, sources stated, “Rajni has a triple role in Rana. Rekha will co-star opposite the older Rajnikanth, Vidya Balan with be with the middle-aged character and Deepika opposite the youngest.”

It’s reported that when Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria had recently asked the actress to put on weight for her role, since the southern siren was voluptuous, it seems that Vidya Balan flatly refused to put on some kilos.
Speaking about her denial to add few kilos for her role, Vidya Balan stated, “For the first time, my director and producer told me to put on a little weight. But I don’t want to. With an Indian face and an Indian body structure, I will manage it. If I increase it for this film, then I will also have to reduce it afterwards.”
