The collection “Noor” by Sonam and Paras Modi for their label ‘SVA’ was inspired by the celebrated dancer, Noor, whose beauty was renowned among the courtesans of the British Raj era.
Bringing the glitz and glamour of the nautch girls and combining it with the sophistication of the British Raj, the ‘SVA’ label presented a medley of gorgeous garments. Such grace and glory in ensembles could only be highlighted in regal colours like burnt rose, shadow grey, lint, green tea and burl wood.
The rich fabric base had to be handloom with decadent silks, satins and sheer extravagance creating a grand style statement. Handcrafted embellishments added to the beauty of the creations as ornate zardosi and pita work completely covered the garments or appeared selectively.
The extravagant Lehenga with plunged neckline blouse and cape sleeved detail looked ravishing on the runway. Peplum jacket teamed with well-tailored tulip pants were stunning. An asymmetrical top with an embroidered border paired with palazzos depicted modernism with a hint of elegance.
Bringing in just three men’s wear entries the label ensured that the masculine fashion quotient was taken care of. Silk kurtas and churidars were teamed with neatly crafted bandgala jackets and a regal sherwani in shades of burnt rose pink with beige silk churidars completed the look.
Adding to the mood of the collection was the limited edition hand crafted shoes that matched the look of the “Noor” range.
Nimrat Kaur, the superb Bollywood and Hollywood star made a glamorous entry in an ornate, gold, embroidered, wine, coloured Lehenga with an angular draped choli flaunting a long trail.
For a grand Red Carpet appearance that will drive the paparazzi into frenzy “Noor” by Sonam and Paras Modi for their ‘SVA’ label will cause a battery of flash bulbs to go into motor drive.
