“The guiding philosophy behind SOMAL HALEPOTO is to create fresh, chic and sophisticated ensembles for the every-day woman. Where each piece is dealt with exquisite fabrics and hand worked embroideries.”
At PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, designer Somal Halepoto will be showcasing her Spring/Summer pret a porter collection titled ‘Bahaar’. The collection draws inspiration from the spring season itself while also reflecting the vulnerable daintiness as reflected in the beauty of a woman. With this collection, Somal works across fabrics such as silks and satins with cuts being an interfusion of Western and Eastern silhouettes with handmade embellishments and block prints to complete the look. Using hues of pastels in pink and blue, the designer has also used accents of candy pink and neon, as well as black and white. Key trends being highlighted in this collection are a variety of short and long shirts, ‘boyfriend’ cut blazers, ponchos, and tapered cut pants.
Somal Halepoto graduated from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture as a Textile Designer in the year of 2006 and launched her label in 2009. With a fresh and vibrant outlook to the label, the designer prides herself on the interplay of precision-perfect modern and traditional cuts and prints with splashes of colour combinations on carefully selected fabrics with attention to detail and embellishments. Indeed Somal’s designs are modern but based in an ethnic origin enhanced by the use of fine and intricate handmade embroidery with thread and other craftsmanship. Somal Halepoto has also been invited to participate in the upcoming Toronto Fashion Week in Canada.
