Last updated:

I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week. It is a superb platform for the talented designers of our country to express their creativity. It gives great exposure! Being a part of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week means that a designer on an individual level has had their ideas harnessed and channeled in a professional and disciplined way, which shows only how well the Council is contributing to this industry, which makes me very proud to be a part of the PFDC community.”

Designer label Sofia Badar, formerly known as Sofia Chishty, will showcasing her bridal collection ‘Tilism’ at the Bank Al-Falah Rising Talent show at PLBW 2014. Tilism, which means magic, is a bridal collection inspired from the wardrobes of royals of the east and west and a fusion of both together. In Tilism, the label has used chiffons, charmuese silk, organza and net with cuts that are an amalgamation of soft form and very structured silhouettes. The embellishments are also a mix of traditional beading and salma work with silk thread embroidery, that feature he use of Swarovski crystals for a modern feel. The collection’s colour palette comprises of Midnight blue, hot pink and pale powder pink with accents of pistachio green and orchid. The bridal collection endeavours to showcase that what consumers seek now, outfits that are both traditional and modern at the same time.

The brand’s signature style is a clean and appealing colour palette that is not harsh on the eyes and has too much going on. The label prides itself on the quality it delivers to its customers and specializes in embellishments that are rich and luxe and would still look new even after years. She puts special emphasis on fabrics, cuts and embellishment used. Speaking about her brand, Sofia Badar said, “I believe that a bride should feel the magic of her imagination come alive as she adorns her Sofia Badar wedding outfit and she should feel a nostalgic sparkle if she wears the same ensemble again later.”

The label, Sofia Badar, came into being in 2007. Sofia Badar started out as a small venture catering to a very niche clientele. Sofia Badar produces summer pret, exclusive digital prints and luxury pret but bridal wear remains the label’s forte. The label has taken a silent but strong route so far and is now excited to get out and about in the industry and is looking forward to new challenges and experiences that will come with it. Sofia Badar makes clothes that can be passed on to generations. As a sustainable fashion brand, Sofia Badar keeps in mind the environment we live in and try to be as green as possible. A Sofia Badar signature ensemble is elegant, beautiful and luxurious.
