15Aug12, Ek Tha Tiger, which sees Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif coming together after four years, released worldwide on August 15, the Independence day of India. The wait is over for all Salman Khan fans. Ek Tha Tiger releases today, a double celebration of Independence Day and Eid, which is on Monday. Multiplexes have been quick to cash in on the long weekend by hiking ticket prices by 12 to 16 percent, a move that has been condemned by Salma Via NDTV.

Ek Tha Tiger has not only opened to packed houses, if initial trade reports are to be believed, the movie has set new records on the day 1 of its release. The Salman-Katrina starrer has broken the first day records of Hrithik’s Agneepath and SRK’s RA.One. And if reports are to be believed, Ek Tha Tiger clocked Rs.32-35 crore on its opening day itself..

Ek Tha Tiger was Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Kabir Khan, the film was screened in 3300 screens across the country, marking the largest domestic release for a Bollywood film. In fact, about 60 percent of the first weekend sales received an advanced booking prior to the release.
