Review: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Last updated:

Bollywood is coming up with different and interesting movies these days. No more romantic tragedies of different stratum couples. We see no girls with saris and the hero dancing in the fields. One after another bold and untold stories are being released. Directed by Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai(2002) gave Indian Cinema a new dimension. Then Farhan Akhtar acted a leading role in middle stratum ambitious movie Rock-on, in which he sang also. Coming from extremely talented family,  father Javed Akhtar (Lyricist, poet and screen writer) and mother screenwriter Honey Farhan Akhtar’s twin sister Zoya Akhtar introduced another brilliant movie this year named Zindagi Na milegi Dobara.

When I saw the promo of the movie first time on the television I was like WOW! What a direction. The colors in the movie were so appealing in the first glance. The clothing screenplay and music by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, one of my favourite music directors, glitter the story evermore. The story is also written by Zoya herself with Reema Kagti. Starring; Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akshta, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starts with a beautiful proposal scene between Kabir (Abhay Deol) a young man on his knees, proposing to a girl (Kalki Koechlin) played Natasha. This leads to a perfectly planned and attractively directed engagement celebration scene of son (Abhay Doel) of a construction tycoon, who is is engaged to an interior designer, Natasha (Kalki Koechlin). They are seemed to be in relationship for no more than six months. Conversation between the sweet new couple is interesting after he asks her out to marry him. She replies “I construct buildings and you design interiors, we are perfect,”.Two families gather to know each other and the wedding date gets fixed.

Farhan Akhtar appears at the same time celebrating his friend’s ceremony. To celebrate  last few months of freedom before the end of his bachelor status, Kabir and his two best friends, free-spirited advertising copywriter Imran (Farhan Akhtar) and workaholic financial broker Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), head-out on an extended road trip through Spain. This trip is already planned before when they were college. This turns out to be a trip of a lifetime as the three men recollect and confront the past with each other, enjoy the present and discover a new future. One of the plan is the under water sea diving. And Arjun(Hrithik Roshan) seems frightened of diving. Here the beautiful Bollywood queen Kathrina Kaif named Laila appears as a deep sea diving instructor. Lively half-Indian, half-British Laila (Katrina Kaif), who they meet on a beach in Costa Brava gets interested in Arjun(Hrithik Roshan) and seemed to change his life for forever. They enjoy together and Laila becomes an important part of their company on the trip. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara doesn’t revolve in one situation but is interestingly divided into desirable events of adventure planned for each other – deep sea diving in Costa Brava, a tomato fight in Bunol, sky diving in Sevilla and, finally, the San Fermin Bull Run in Pamplona.

Movie is a perfect joy-ride the beautiful corals and oceanic life is a treat to get involve in.Turns out that these three musketeers have secret fears captivating their souls which are revealed in the end.
