The Ranveer Singh-starrer big-ticket film Simmba has set the box-office on fire. The crime action film, on Sunday, witnessed a massive jump of 33.13 per cent as it added Rs 31.06 crore more to its kitty.

Its total collection, after the opening-weekend run, stands at Rs 75.11 crore. Surprising, as it may sound, the Mumbai circuit has made a contribution of 38.62 per cent in the film’s business, which is absolutely phenomenal.Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the official box-office figures of Simmba on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

With its sparkling performance, Simmba has managed to beat Akshay Kumar’s Gold (Rs 70.05 crore) and Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 (Rs 73.10 crore) in terms of opening-weekend collection. It must be noted that both these films had opened with much better numbers (Gold – Rs 25.25 crore, Baaghi 2 – Rs 25.10 crore) than that of Simmba (Rs 20.72 crore). However, the Rohit Shetty-directed film has lagged behind films Thugs of Hindostan, Sanju and Race 3 if their first-weekend collections are taken into consideration. Simmba, also starring Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in important roles, casts Ranveer as a corrupt yet cheerful Maharashtra Police cop, Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba. He has a change of heart, when a girl he treats as his sister, gets raped and murdered.Simmba, jointly produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez and Dharma Productions, has been distributed by Reliance Entertainment. The film hit the screens on December 28 to mixed reviews.
