Fawad Afzal Khan is yet another example of Pakistani actors making a beeline for Bollywood despite facing opposition from their fans back home. Here’s looking at the other imports who have joined Bollywood.
Fawad Khan: This Pakistani superstar is all set to make his Bollywood debut opposite Sonam Kapoor in Khoobsurat. While he has become a hit with the girls courtesy his good looks, he has faced flak from his country for ‘hurting the sentiments by working in a Hindi film.’ In response, Fawad said, “I do feel bad but I choose to ignore the criticism. I believe art knows no culture and creed.”
Humaima Malick: Her Bollywood debut with Raja Natwarlal sees Humaima locking lips with co-star Emraan Hashmi. Needless to say, the model and actress from Pakistan has drawn the ire of her fans back home. But she’s not willing to step back. “I’m confident about getting accepted by the Indian audience. But I’m scared of my own country,” she said.
Ali Zafar: He is probably the most successful Pakistani actor in Bollywood so far. The multi-talented artiste believes that politics and art should not be mixed and was once quoted saying, “Indian people love me more than I had expected.” His last release may have bombed at the box-office but Ali has a few films on his plate.
Sara Loren: Sara made her B-town debut with Pooja Bhatt’s romantic thriller Kajraare and then went on to play the seductress in Murder 3. Her bold avatar in the film didn’t go down well with her fans across the border but she blatantly stated, “I like doing sex scenes.” The actress, who will next be seen opposite Adhyayan Suman, is yet to make an impact in B-town.
Veena Malik: Be it for her saucy photo-shoots or her controversial comments – Veena always found herself in the line of fire. The Pakistani actress-cum-model-cum-TV host, who had caught everyone’s attention in India with a reality show followed by a few B-grade films, tied the knot last year with Dubai-based businessman, Assad Bashir Khan Khattak.
Iman Ali: An established model and actress in Pakistan, Iman caught everyone’s attention in India with her performances in Pakistani blockbusters, Khuda Kay Liye and Bol. Buzz is that she has been approached by Mani Ratnam for a pivotal role in his next.
