Mumbai: After big budget super- hit films like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Agent Vinod’ were banned in Pakistan, the latest film to land in a hot soup in our neighbouring country is Akshay Kumar’s yet-to-be-released ‘Khiladi 786’.

Reports have just come in that the Pakistan censor board has banned the TV promos of ‘Khiladi 786’. The reason being that the number ‘786’ is sacred for Muslims, and it is said that the film might hurt their religious sentiments.

The Censor board of Pakistan has also issued an order that cinema halls will not release the action flick, ‘Khiladi 786’ trailers. The Board has also ordered the distributors to remove the billboards and posters of the film.

Pakistan’s Censor Board Chairman, Raja Mustafa Haider revealed, “The appearance of banners for the film in Rawalpindi and other areas was brought to my notice and I asked the City District Government Rawalpindi to remove all of them.”

In a bizarre twist to the tale, Raja Mustafa Haider revealed that the Pakistan Censor Board had managed to convince distributors to release the film without use of the number ‘786’. All this, along with the caveat that the film can still get banned later if it contains any objectionable scenes or dialogues.

‘Khiladi 786’, starring Akshay Kumar and Asin, will release elsewhere in the world this Friday, on 7th December, 2012.
