[Lahore: May 2013]: This May, Overload is staying true to its name and its reputation as the loudest band in Pakistan. The band has paid no heed to the heat, as it recently performed at two important venues with popular American country music band ‘Blended 328’ in what has been one of the hottest months of the year. This resulted in two consecutive energy packed evenings, which were a treat for both the attendees and performers.

Continuing the ‘jazba’, Overload will be performing at the launch of an exciting new international burger chain – Fatburger – on 31st May, 2013.

Overload at UCP

University of Central Punjab (UCP) organized a concert in collaboration with the US Consulate in Pakistan on Monday, 27th of May, 2013. At the event, ‘Blended 328‘ and ‘Overload‘ performed live at UCP. The show was kicked off by Overload playing Mahi and Neray Aah after which Blended 328 took the stage. Both bands ended the evening by playing Batti followed by Overload doing the Dhamaal. The participants and band members both had a remarkable evening. “Awesome crowd at UCP tonight! Loved the warm response. Blended 328 were funky as hell!” said Farhad Humayun of Overload right after their performance.

Overload at SOS Village, Lahore.

Overload played Batti Aye Ya Na Aye on request of excited, smiling children who wanted to sing along. Overload also played Dhamaal on the dhol & drums for half an hour, dedicating the performance to the children who danced the night away. “Watching them dance and having the time of their lives, it seemed as if someone had grabbed our hearts and was squeezing them constantly. All of us including the crowd had a blast singing Batti and dancing on the Dhamaal! Thanks to Blended 328 from Tennessee for putting on a great show! Every kid deserves a future! Every kid deserves to have fun! Glad to add cheers to people’s lives! Allah hoo!” said Farhad Humayun speaking about the unforgettable experience.

About Overload

Overload (Urdu: اورلوڈ) is a Pakistani rock band from Lahore, Punjab, formed in 2003. The group is directed by producer, lead vocalist and drummer, Farhad Humayun and keyboard/synth player, songwriter and composer, Sheraz Siddiq, who were soon joined by Hassan Mohyeddin on percussion along with dhol players Nasir Sain and Kala Sain. The band has been widely regarded by many critics as being the “Loudest band in Pakistan”.

Since their inception, the band has released two studio albums and one live album. The band released their debut self-titled album Overload in December, 2006. The album charted at the top in the local Pakistani music charts, and singles from the album included instrumentals “Dhamaal”, “Cursed” and “Storm”. After the release of the album, dhol player Nasir Sain joined the band. In 2008, due to the success of the band’s debut album, their single “Dhamaal” got nominated for the “Best Music Video” award at the Lux Style Awards. This was followed by the band releasing their second studio album, Pichal Pairee, in 2009. Although, the album released exclusively as a digital download album, and has not been released on a physical medium, it still topped the charts locally. Singles from the album, “Pichal Pairee”, “Mela Kariyay” and “Dhol Bajay Ga!” were

critical hits. In an online poll by Dawn News the band’s video for their single, “Pichal Pairee”, was voted as the third best music video of 2010.

Subsequently “Dhol Bajay Ga!” was released as “Batti” with Humayun’s vocals, followed by Humayun taking over as the permanent vocalist and also being the drummer of the band. His vocals are comparable to classical rock that emerged during the 70s and 80s and has been well received by critics and the audience alike. The latest release by Overload which was a cover of a Syed Noor film song “Neray Aah” has been their biggest hit to date & the Overload Live At The Apartment sessions have won the band more respect & critical acclaim.

Overload featured on the fifth season of Coke Studio in which Farhad took over as drummer in the house band.
