Nickie Nina’s bridal collection ‘Baroque’ for PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2012

Last updated:

“We are very excited to be showing our bridal collection at PLBW this year after showing mostly ready to wear at previous fashion weeks. We believe that the fashion industry can boost the economy to endless bounds because of the availability and our proximity to textile and raw materials as well as an endless supply of skilled labour. Our heritage also provides us with a rich resource of workmanship and crafts that give the Pakistani industry an edge over others.”

Nickie Nina’s bridal collection for PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2012 titled ‘Baroque’ is inspired by the 17th century European vintage artistic style. With fabrics such as pure silk, chiffon, jamawar and velvet, Nickie Nina’s couture craftsmanship is manifest in the ‘Baroque’ collection with antique gold hand embellishment and colourful threadwork with cuts that are ‘traditional-eastern-meets-western-period’. Nickie Nina has engaged a diverse range of colours from cerulean, sea-green, deep plum to lemon yellow and beige for ‘Baroque’.

The iconic haute couture and prêt a porter design house of Nickie Nina is the brainchild of sisters Aliya “Nickie” Ali and Nabila “Nina” Khan. Possessing an indisputable flair for fashion, the duo designed their first collection in 1995 and soon developed a historic relationship with Pakistani fashion. Five years later, having made an indelible mark on the Pakistani fashion scene, the sisters launched the eponymous luxury label in 2000 at the critically acclaimed millennium show in Lahore. Since, then dynamic duo has continued to make waves, building a name for their brand in Pakistan, and abroad. The duo is amongst the founding members of the prestigious Pakistan Fashion Design Council. Nickie Nina have showcased to heads of state and fashionistas across diverse international fashion destinations, including New York, L.A., Chicago, London, Geneva, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. The label is currently retailed in Lahore, Pakistan at its flagship outlet on M.M. Alam road, as well as the PFDC Boulevard at Mall One in Main Gulberg, and in Karachi at the flagship Nickie Nina outlet on Zamzama.
