Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Aliya filed divorce!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui who is celebrating his birthday today has suddenly found himself in the headlines. The actor has been sent a legal notice seeking a divorce by his wife of 11 years, Aaliya Siddiqui. She released an official statement saying that there have been issues between them ever since they got married.

The couple has two children together and Aaliya has demanded full custody of them post their separation. Her lawyer too has told that the legal notice has been sent to the actor via mail and WhatsApp. However, they have not received any reply as of yet.

They were in a serious relationship but parted ways at one point and Nawaz got married to Sheeba, who was chosen by his mother and family. However, their marriage didn’t last long and they called it quits soon. After a few years, Aaliya returned in his life and they finally got married in 2009.

Aaliya’s real name has been mentioned as Anjali. The actor had also recalled how Anjali didn’t think twice before changing her name to Aaliya during the nikah. Although nothing was officially confirmed, reports of trouble in their marriage started coming out in the media in 2017. Reports of affairs of the actor started surfacing. The actor and his wife had been summoned by cops after their names emerged during an investigation related to a Call Data Record (CDR) racket. However, during all these too, Aaliya remained loyal and supportive of her actor husband.

Aaliya has filed for a divorce with the actor stating that she does not want the marriage anymore. She told Bombay Times that she has given it a lot of thought and she does not want this marriage anymore. She also said that she has gone back to her original name Anjana Kishor Pandey as she does not want to use his identity anymore. She has also requested for sole custody of her children.

On the professional front, the actor was last seen in Motichoor Chaknachoor which also starred Athiya Shetty. Helmed by Debamitra Biswal, the film was released in November last year.
