Every Bollywood movie has a hero, a heroine and a villain; hence ‘Ek Villian’ is a story about a villain. Bollywood movies are usually about the hero but this was a different story. From the trailers to the songs it hooked all the viewers to the release date and people were driving crazy to watch the first day first show. Many Bollywood movies create the curiosity and Mohit Suri’s ‘Ek Villian’ is one of them. Initially the trailer made the plot very clear but as time passed by it became a mysterious watch.

Ek Villian’ is a story about Guru (Sidharth Malhotra) who is a tough gangster working for the don (Remo Fernandes) in Goa. He falls in love with Aisha (Shraddha Kapoor) and marries her, after the vows he decides to quit his job and starts a fresh new life in Mumbai.  Just when things were getting normal a serial killer kills Aisha and Guru gets in search of the killer. Who is the killer? Maybe Sidharth has double roles? Or just Guru is the killer we leave the rest for you to watch the movie. If the story is unfolded the movie will not be fun to watch.

Although a number of movies have focused on serial killers but it wasn’t an interesting watch. ‘Ek Villian’ is a love story that you won’t get tired of. It had some glimpse of ‘Aashiqui 2’ but it wasn’t to the same level. The story keeps you captivated although you get to know the killer in the first half but still you wonder why this is happening.  As a matter of fact, the clash between the good and the evil towards the concluding stages is the icing on the cake.

All the soundtracks in the movies were heart-winning, it’s imperative that Mohit scores on this as well ‘Galliyan‘, ‘Banjaara‘, ‘Zaroorat‘ and ‘Awari‘ (by Pakistani Band ‘Soch’) each of the tracks is soulful and is engraved in your memory even after the screening has concluded.  The action in the movie was well balanced and the dialogues were appropriate to the scenes.

Above all the acting of the stars was remarkable and shocking. Ritesh Deshmukh who has always been doing comedy roles gambles a dark, intense, sadistic character in ‘Ek Villian’. Sidharth Malhotra is an absolute revelation, catching you with complete surprise from the chocolate boy transformation into a gangster. This must’ve been challenging for Ritesh and Sidharth but they nailed it.

Shraddha Kapoor, is the one who moves the story forward. She has the fresh look on and manages to add so much in every sequence she features in. She has always raised her bar and post ‘Aashiqui 2’ this is yet another performance that surely will multiply her fan-following.

On the whole, ‘Ek Villian’ is a must watch which will keep u engrossed till the end. Without a doubt it is a shot winner!
