Moin Akhtar laid to rest

KARACHI, April 23: The legendary comedian and actor Moin Akhtar, who died on Friday of a heart attack, was laid to rest in the Model Colony graveyard in Malir on Saturday. Held at Toheed Masjid, his funeral prayer was led by Junaid Jamshed, the former lead vocalist of the pop group Vital Signs.

Despite the sweltering heat, a large number of people, including friends, relatives and colleagues of Moin Akhtar attended the funeral. It was a solemn ceremony as a majority of the attendees were sad and a big number of them could not control their tears. Some of the distinguished names from the showbiz fraternity who came to say farewell to the great artiste were actors Nadeem, Javed Shaikh, Behroz Sabzwari and writer Anwar Maqsood, and among noted politicians there were Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro and former nazim of Karachi Mustafa Kamal.
