‘The Maze’ by Rimzim Dadu was a unique fashion experience ever created, which gave fashionistas at 6Degree Stage One during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 an installation and fashion thrill.

With audio headphones, the viewers moved through a maze of textured walls against which models posed in garments of the same feel and look. The fashion story was related over the headphones along with informative vocals to further enhance the unforgettable fashion movement.

When it came to fabrics, it was Rimzim’s signature leather weaves along with chiffon cords that created perfect surface texturing. Using some intricate detailing, Rimzim worked with innovative texturing techniques by creating molten metallic surfaces using plastic wires that resembled metallic strands and sewed them individually to create sculpted metallic garments.

Rimzim conveyed her art by painting a larger picture about the dooming society, all those little insecurities mounting into an emotional volcano. The Maze took the audience through the ‘walk of life’ with various communal perspectives blaring on the headphone and her magical collection providing visual aid for the seekers of optimism and love.

The mesmerising 3D saris and dresses, which appeared straight out of fantasies, were painstakingly beautiful and futuristic in bold olive, scarlet, plum and metallic hues. The next segment of this revolutionary chronicle displayed Rimzim’s strength as an artist and as a visionary with outfits woven to exactness and made into casual collared tops and trousers. Taking another turn into The Maze, there appeared sheer black tunic with fitted pants and two little black dresses with a delicate handloom touch which amazed the spectators.

The idea of whisking fashion/performance art with a dominant societal issue earned the par excellent designer major accolades. Initiating a presentation with mind-tangling minute details (intricate lights, deep background score) and delivering it with perfection was a victory in itself. Brooding and hard hitting harsh realities of life can be complicated just like a maze; the idea was to rise above the third world problems and finding the little ray of hope that becomes the reason for survival for those who seem to be lost.

A Rimzim Dadu fashion show is always an enthralling experience but at 6Degree Stage One during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 ‘The Maze’ was a “once in a lifetime” unforgettable fashion movement that viewers will remember forever.
