Khoobsurat to Hit Pakistani Cinema on Friday (September 19 2014)
KARACHI: Pakistani star Fawad Khan is set to hog the limelight as his Bollywood flick “Khoobsurat” starring India’s sweetheart Sonam Kapoor to hits cinemas across Pakistan on Friday (September 19).
A remake of the 80’s movie with the same name, the much-anticipated Khoobsurat is ’s debut Bollywood movie, first ever Disney film in association with Anil Kapoor Film Company, directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
“Khoobsurat was the ideal platform to make my Indian debut as it is a clean family entertainer, a modern-day-fairytale… It was a lot of fun working on this film and I hope the audience enjoys it as much as I enjoyed during the making,” says Fawad.
Sonam essay the role of a charming and effervescent Milli, an endearing misfit in a royal setting and Fawad will reprise the role of a straight jacketed royal prince Virkam, in this romantic-comedy.
According to sources Fawad believes that working across the border will bring back a lot of learning for the local film industry in a lot of ways.
“Pakistani commercial films are about just taking off but India recently celebrated 100 years of cinema – The Bollywood film industry is inspirational in many ways as its accepting, larger than life and forward moving – I have received a lot of love from the Indian audience with my television show Zindagi Gulzar Hai and the response has been overwhelming.” says Fawad.
Fawad’s experience of working in India was very good and he credits Sonam Kapoor for it.
“I didn’t face any problem in communicating with the people on the sets and a lot of credit goes to her (Sonam) for that,” he adds.
Khoobsurat has been produced by Sonam’s sister Rhea Kapoor. It also stars Kirron Kher and Ratna Pathak Shah.
