Khaadi Khaas Collection at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2014
The Khaadi Khaas collection for PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2014 is inspired by the baroque era. For this collection, the label has incorporated numerous big floral digital prints in exaggerated silhouettes to portray the feeling of summer. With a mix of original digital prints and embroidered ensembles, the collection has Eastern silhouettes with options of separates with a lot of layering using embroidered net and lawn. The collection is mostly in beiges with contrasting accents to add a burst of colour along with the brand’s vibrant floral digital prints. Key trends being highlighted are layers, lighter coats and jackets to dress up and dress down.
Shamoon Sultan graduated from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design. After graduation he worked with Noor Jehan Bilgrami at Koel. It was his keen interest in the indigenous craft of hand woven fabric that led him to the inception of Khaadi in 1998. Ever since then the brand has become synonymous with hand-woven fabric and other products across Pakistan and even abroad. Shamoon then launched Khaadi Khaas in 2008, to give more exclusivity to the parent brand with a formal pret wear brand. Khaadi Khaas is a young, experimental brand that works with a fusion of eastern and western wear with over 20 stores in 10 cities across Pakistan and 7 stores in the UAE.
Khaadi was inducted at the Shell LiveWIRE International Hall of Fame as one of Pakistan’s leading fashion houses and has won eight Lux Style Awards in the past, including Awards for ‘Best Men’s Wear’ (2002, 2005), ‘Best Retail Store’ (2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012) and Achievement in Fashion Design – Prêt (for Khaadi Khaas) in 2011.
