Success and failure are a part and parcel of life. The film industry, likewise, is no different. Some movies shake us to the core with their dynamism, while others, fail to make an impact on the audience. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan recently opened up about how his most recent film, Kalank, frizzled at the box office and what he took away from the experience.
In a recent interview, Varun voiced his opinions and said, “It (Kalank) was not accepted by the audience because it was a bad film and somewhere we all failed collectively”. Varun starred in the film alongside Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha.
Further talking about how the failure of a film also affects the team, the actor said, “Making a film is a team effort. It’s wrong to blame it on the director and producer. And being a part of the team, I will take part of the blame as well. The film did let down people. We have collectively gone through why it didn’t work. Personally, it (failure) was important. I wanted the failure to affect me because if it doesn’t, then that means I don’t love my work.”
He concluded by saying that, at the end of the day, only the “audience mattered”, and his aim solely, was to “entertain them”; he added that failure was inevitable and if anything, one will have to learn from it.
