HSY – PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013

Last updated:

“We at HSY are incredibly excited to be a part of the PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week for the third time. As one of the founding members of the Pakistan Fashion Design Council, I am extremely proud to say that PFDC has always been very supportive in providing designers with an international platform on which to showcase their collections. PLBW is yet again another great effort.”

Participating at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week for the third time, HSY’s ‘A Tribute’ is a collection that pays homage to the independence, beauty and confidence of women. Expect fluid silhouettes with an accent on structure at the hipline and detailed dart manipulated corseting and blouses, with a strong emphasis on silk velvets, diaphanous chiffons, delicate tissue and hand woven jacquards to create a look that is luxurious and opulent. Intricate handicraft and age old techniques have been revived for a bride who appreciates the richness of her heritage. The collection is a study of surface embellishments and textures encompassing stitches from every province across the nation, such as pitta, gota, pippal girah, long girah, marori, Kashmiri tanka, crystals, mukesh, naqshi ganta, applique, hyderabadi phool, khichwa tanka, chawal tanka and paarsi gara. The collection incorporates the use of three strong colour themes which will be showcased during three individual segments on the ramp; classic HSY Rouge; fresh luminous corals and hues of bright and oxidized golds; and daring midnight blues. For this collection, HSY has collaborated exclusively with Ahmad Haroon Khan, who has designed jewellery inspired by the Nizam of Hyderabad and Queen Noor Jehan to complement the collection. Each individual ornament in the accompanying collection has been handcrafted in silver with gold formation and features precious and semi-precious stones.

Established in the year 2000, HSY is best known for combining contemporary silhouettes with the traditional techniques of old. The brand’s inspiration is distinctly Pakistani and Middle Eastern peppered with Western influences. Easily recognized as one of the biggest names in fashion in the region, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin is the fashion force behind the label and has been referred to as the ‘New King of Couture’ by Harper’s Bazaar magazine. Hassan himself holds an honours degree in Couture from the Pakistan School of Fashion Design, an affiliate of La Chambre Syndicale De La Couture Parisienne, France. Currently serving as a member of the board of directors of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design, Hassan is also one of the founding members of the PFDC and the recipient of multiple ‘Designer of the Year’ awards, including the Ahlan Fashion and Lifestyle awards, the Lux Style Award, the Most Stylish Fashion Icon at the MTV Style Awards and Style Guru of the Year by Indus Style Awards. One of I.Q Magazine’s Top 20 Fashion Icons of the World and amongst Ahlan’s Hot 100 people, Hassan has been a driving force in the world of fashion for over 15 years.
