August 2016 saw a surprise hit in ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ which starred Diana Penty in her second Bollywood movie, was directed by Mudassar Aziz and produced by Aanand L Rai.
Aanand has gained popularity post backing films like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘TWM: Returns’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ and ‘Raanjhanaa’.
The whole team including Aparshakti Khurrana, Piyush Mishra, Sonakshi Sinha and Diana Penty, unveiled the hilarious trailer of the film.
Speaking about the sequel, director Muddasar said, “Har director aur producer par zimmedaari aati hai jab woh sequal banata hai. Audience ki expectation ka dhyan rakhe. Jab Aanand L Rai ke paas film le gaya toh bass yahi socha tha dimag mein. (When a sequel is being made, every director and producer has the responsibility of keeping the audiences expectation in mind and then going ahead with a project. That’s exactly what I thought when I approached Aanand L Rai).”
But the film went on floors and now is set for a release, this time with Sonakshi Sinha as the latest addition to the cast. The actress narrated her experience on the film stating, “We had some tough location and weather to face but together as a team we stood strong and it was fun over all.”
Aparshakti Khurrana, most remembered for his role in Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dangal’, then interrupted adding, “Muddasar is an emotional person it reflects in his writing and acting.”
Coming to having two Happy in the film witht he faces of Sonakshi Sinha and Diana Penty, Muddasar found it quite difficult as he said, “Do Happy ko chunna mushkil hai. Both stories are my babies but they are both different as a person. Diana and Sonakshi are remarkable.”
When both the actresses were asked the same question, Sona said, “I was looking foward to working with Diana. I have seen part 1 and found it hilarious,” while Diana mentioned, “I was happy that Sonakshi was playing Happy in Part 2.”
Speaking on what makes them happy, Sonakshi said, “My works keeps me going and am very passionate about it and other than work, family, friends and good food keeps me happy,” to which Diana also agreed.
Aanand L Rai was then posed with a question nobody would’ve thought. When asked about the reason behind showcasing Pakistan in part 1 and China in 2, Aanand gave a witty answer in, “We want to make the people happy where there is war,” then adding, “At the end of the day we have a medium and we try to make audience happy. We just entertain audiences. We can’t solve issues between nations but from our end we’re trying to do out bit.”
Finally when asked about part 3 of the film, Muddasar smartly brushed it off saying, “We didn’t realise we would get so much of love from audiences that we would make part 2. Let’s leave it on masses. If it’s accepted, we will think about part 3.
