Say goodbye to your balayage and meet tiger eye, the hottest hair trend that has recently taken over social networks and beauty salons all over the world. Long story short: in 2017 it’s going to be all about brown hair and its gorgeous rich shades.
As you might guess from the name, tiger eye hair imitates the colors and tones of Tiger Eye, a semi-precious stone composed of quartz, limonite, and riebeckite. It is an ancient stone worn for protection and confidence — it’s known for its rich browns and golds. Its natural brown base with yellow and gold stripes is a visual example of what stylists will have to recreate on your hair. These colors are seen blended through strands using a technique that is similar to balayage. Ask your colorist for “hand-painted caramel highlights paired with a warm or dark chocolate base.” And like balayage, it grows out seamlessly, since the roots are not necessarily dyed.
Hollywood celebrities have already jumped on the trend and thus triggered its popularity in social networks. You can see how the trend explodes if you check their accounts using the hashtag #tigereye.
The difference between balayage and tiger eye may not seem very obvious, but expert colorists assure us that the new trend uses darker and richer shades of brown. The new technique gives more volume and shine to your hair. Balayage, on the other hand, used cooler and lighter tones.
Although, you can totally rock the look in short hair just like Lucy Hale, but this hair color trend looks best on medium-length and long hair.
