About Fashion Pakistan Council

With an objective to foster and promote fashion within Pakistan, The Fashion Pakistan Council was first established in 2006 by founding members Maheen Khan, Shamaeel Ansari, Deepak Perwani, Sabeen Ameer Ali, Sana Safinaz, Honey Waqar and Amir Adnan.

Since its inception, the council has spearheaded the development of the fashion industry with its pioneering week of fashion, Fashion Pakistan Week [FPW] first held in 2009. Indeed this March 2013 marks the fifth installment of FPW. This week of fashion has come to be renowned as the leading platform in Pakistan to showcase and reveal top trends and new talent such as the likes of Wardha Saleem, Nomi Ansari, Shehla Chatur, Bani D and Misha Lakhani all of whom debuted at the FPW platform.

The council also introduced their first standalone multi-brand flagship store FPL in Lahore 2009 and a second store in Karachi 2012. Their flagship store currently retails over 18 designers, both mainstream and upcoming, situated in the heart of Lahore’s retail center, Gulberg.

Currently, the council is led by seasoned entrepreneur and fashion designer Shamaeel Ansari as Fashion Pakistan’s chairperson. Amir Adnan, Honey Waqar, Safinaz Muneer and Sabeen Amer Ali also sit on the board of FP. Their combined vision is to promote retail brands within the domestic market through their fashion week platform and stores, and to eventually encourage and facilitate the export of Pakistani brands to international fashion houses. Members of FPC participate in prestigious international fashion weeks such as Milan Fashion Week 2009 in Italy, Audi Fashion Week 2010 in Singapore, Colombo Fashion Week 2009 and Miami fashion Week 2010. FPC have also a memorandum of understanding with the Fashion Design Council India. Further, Fashion Pakistan has collaborated in the past with private and governmental organizations who have been sponsorship partners of FPC. Some of these include MCB, Etihad, Ponds, Toni & Guy, Bank Alfalah, Shan Foods, Q mobile, TDAP and GSK. The council also aims to train and develop the local labor force in the country so that the country’s finished products can compete on the international stage.

Between 2013 – 2015, Fashion Pakistan endeavors to set up a permanent venue for the holding of mini shows for buyers, as well as a textile and research cell and a fashion and costume museum.
