In an exclusive interview with Mustafa, we will be busting fitness myths and finding out how Fit in 5 stands out among other boot camps across the country.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FIT IN 5 AND OTHER BOOT CAMPS?
Fit in 5 is my fitness dream which has come out alive after years of hard work. We promote fitness as a lifestyle where fitness, healthy eating and regular exercise are not just means to lose fat but are to be embraced to turn your life around. That way, we don’t solely focus on losing weight but on maintaining good health. To ensure that we cater to each individual’s needs, exercises are altered and divided into five weeks. Each week the intensity increases. We understand that every body is different and can’t adjust to the same velocity compared to another. So, we don’t throw them in the fire and just leave them there. We walk through the program with each student, making sure that they are equipped to handle what is thrown at them.
SO, WHAT KIND OF EXERCISES DOES THE PROGRAM ENTAIL?
We primarily offer Crossfit, P90x and Hiit training schools. Through the sessions, each student is explained why an exercise is being done and which part of their body the exercise will effect.
DO YOU GUYS GUARANTEE ANY RESULTS?
We don’t make false promises that when you enter and go through the program with us, this is the amount of weight you will lose. I think those are false claims and any fitness instructor guaranteeing results is a hoax. But we do believe that the change you will notice in your body 5 weeks after being with us will be a motivation enough to continue. I have had students who have lost up to 20 kgs but of course how rapidly you lose weight has a lot to do with your metabolism rate, dedicate to a diet and the performance at workout sessions. Nonetheless, you will definitely feel more energetic and disciplined in life.
YOU MENTIONED FOLLOWING A DIET. WHAT KIND OF A DIET DO YOU OFFER AND DOES IT REQUIRE ONE TO STARVE?
We have customized meals that have been properly designed by a nutritionist. Actually, a good diet doesn’t make you starve, you’ll notice that you end up eating more than you actually do but the difference is that these meals are healthy, well-disciplined with customised protein intakes as per every individual’s nutritional requirements. So we provide three kinds of meal plans- each tailor made for a certain week and I personally guide my students on what to follow according to their performance. To make things even less of a hassle, we also have a food partner who makes the meals for you at a minimal cost and a detox partner who delivers juices at the ground, if convenience is an issue.
HOW DOES FIT IN 5 CATER TO PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL AILMENTS, SUCH AS JOINT PAINS?
I’m glad you asked that question. Being in Pakistan, one of the biggest issues that we find in customers is that they lack Vitmain D which results into pains and aches in joints. I’ve seen a lot of bootcamps in the country who just ignore these facts and they don’t consider health issues when they’re registering more students than they can handle. Having the wrong posture during an exercise can absolutely ruin your back or your knee. I can’t emphasize how careful one had to be and that can only be done when you have someone guiding you side by side.
We take care of that and at fit in 5 we have a physiotherapist on board who visits each week to consult people and our trainers alter exercises according to people’s abilities. So, someone who weighs more and has never worked out in their entire life is not doing the same thing as one who is a regular gym goer. We also make sure that each student at the time of registration before the session begins gets a complete body analysis test done with our BMR machine. Also, communication is key. I am always very open with my students and we discuss if there are any physical issues that need to be taken care of and we note it down and always address them.
HOW IS INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION POSSIBLE IN A MASS WORKOUT?
Mass workout is only done so that people share their positive energy and motivate each other. A mass workout doesn’t mean that there is one trainer standing on a podium showing a move while everyone else follows like they’re sheep. The way we work is that we have a team of 15 trainers and each of them is dedicatedly walking and taking rounds to check people are performing the correct postures and give them the attention they need.
DO YOU TAKE IN WOMEN WHO HAVE JUST GIVEN BIRTH? IS THAT SAFE?
It is safe depending on how long it has been. The activity of a mother after a normal delivery is usually decided by her doctor and there are a few weeks after which she can join in. For C-section cases, women are advised to start workout after 6 months of delivery. Our intense course actually helps new moms to have better stamina, look good manage their life, child and work well.
WHAT SPECIAL CLASSES DO YOU HAVE AND WHAT ARE THE TIMINGS?
We have special all ladies classes in the morning and evening at all locations. Generally, all of our other mixed classes are also conducted both AM and PM.
WHERE ARE THE WORKOUT SESSIONS HELD?
There are 4 main locations where we carry out our boot camps. That’s Rahat Stadium, Fit in 5 Box Studio at Zamzama, Elixir School at North Nazimabad and KDA Scheme One at Shahr-e-Faisal. Out studio is of course indoors but all the other locations are outdoors since we feel that being outdoors pumps one up and makes you feel more energetic.
LASTLY, WHAT ARE THE CHARGES OF THE CLASSES AND HOW DOES ONE REGISTER?
We charge Rs15000 for 5 weeks of classes. Registration is simple. One can visit our official website www.fitin5.co and fill out a registration form. You also include your medical details. I can vouch that I personally read each form and call each client to discuss their fitness goals. After which the account department will get in touch with the clients for fee payment.
