ÉlanÉlan’s collection for PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2012 is titled ‘Gold Dust’ to depict its delicate effervescent beauty characteristic of Élan’s mythical princess who is young, feminine, whimsical and romantic, with a calendar full of ceremonial galas and weddings to attend. With an emphasis on fluid silhouettes, shirts and jackets glide along the form allowing movement and agility. Where the bodice or torso has been structured, the look has been softened with flow and volume at the hemline. The three-piece bridal ensembles are regal and richly embellished and include long jackets and tops with trailing backs paired with elaborately embroidered izaars and farshi sharara’s along with Grecian-like draped ensembles for small sophisticated engagements, Kimono styled jackets with sleek ankle grazers for official galas and a traditional kali angarakha with a kali luckhnowi gharara for a traditional mehndi ceremony. For Gold Dust, designer Khadijah Shah has created custom motifs and interplay thread embroidery along with metal and crystal work delving into the extensive library of Sub-Continental, Central Asian and Oriental patterns to create a unique blend of embellishment. The pieces are pre-dominantly crafted in net and silk, embroidered with thread and gold spun floral motifs, gemmed butterflies and birds, crusted jewels and sparkling sprays of sequins, crystal and pearls. Gold Dust is based in a wide range of colours; the customary burgundy and ivory run into the on-trend jewel toned indigo’s and emeralds and an array of pastels, essential to any wedding collection.

Élan is a fashion label launched eight years ago by Khadijah Shah. She is respected for her combination of intricate embellishments, flattering silhouettes and attention to detail in the construction of each outfit. Indeed each collection is conceived with glamour, elegance and versatility in mind. Khadijah Shah inherited her design aesthetic from her mother Aneela Shah, who had a small atelier and a loyal clientele for many years before Élan was formerly launched. In a short span of six years, Khadijah has formalised and expanded the label and created an effective and influential place for Élan in the fashion industry. Élan will be showcasing her bridal collection at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2012.
