The first episode of drama serial Silsilay has won hearts and performed beyond expectations on TV screen. The hype was real and the OST which was sung by Nirmal Roy in her melodious voice with Naveed Nashad is a cherry on the top and so pleasing to the ears that you cannot resist putting it on repeat. The serial started on 2nd January on Geo TV during the 8:00PM slot when most of the families are either having dinner or watching TV or individuals are relaxing at home after a tiring day at work is a perfectly chosen time slot for this content.
The first episode of silsilay begins with a lovely sister duo of Hira [Hiba Bukhari] and Abeeha [Momal Sheikh], the daily rants of these two lovely sisters is so relatable that anyone with two or more sisters at home can relate to it. The stern role of Khala [Seemi Raheel] and soft heartened mother [Shagufta Ejaz] have justified their roles. The happy-go-lucky Shahzeb [Muneeb Butt] with his good sense of humour and playful nature amused the audience with his appearance. Jawad [Junaid Khan] as Khaala’s handsome son who is living abroad and communicates with her mother and doing chit chat over the internet with his family was also relatable. Hira’s inclination towards Jawad and Abeeha’s interest in Shahzeb will definitely make the story more interesting and worth watching.
As the episode progressed the dark and serious side of the story is revealed where ‘Khala’ is found to be rude with the girls and her younger mother due to the fact that she has given shelter to them and bear their expenses. The taunting towards the past of Shagufta Ejaz gives a hint that there must be a bitter truth hidden behind her smile which only her elder sister and Chachi Saas knowsn the girls are still unaware of the reality.
It can be anticipated by watching the first episode that as the story will be developed it will get more intense and the curiosity will be built-up to watch what is going to happen in the next episode. It can be truly said that this is a family oriented play which can be enjoyed along with all the family members. It is undoubtedly a perfect combination of humor, subliminal messages towards the social issues and a strongly knitted story with impactful dialogues.
