Daily walks will add seven years to your life: study
Want to look youthful for a long time? Just take a brisk walk for about 25 minutes daily and you’ll be sorted. Doing this will not only prolong your youth but also add seven years to your life, according to a recent study.
The study that was presented to the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) this weekend claimed that the risk of heart attacks is reduced by half if you exercise regularly. Professor Sanjay Sharma, who worked on the project, opines that though we may never avoid becoming completely old, we may be able to delay old age and look younger than our actual age.
“Exercise buys you three to seven additional years of life. It is an anti-depressant, it improves cognitive function and there is now evidence that it may retard the onset of dementia,” the Metro quotes him saying. Dr Sharma also advised that, “People with a heart condition shouldn’t run but walk to a point where they can still speak – but they shouldn’t be able to sing,” reports the Metro.
