Last updated:

With five films already in her kitty, Alia Bhatt has been reportedly approached to play the lead role in Karan Johar’s Dostana 2. The original movie starred Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.

After winning millions of hearts with her spectacular performance in the film Raazi last year, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is all set to rule 2019. Alia not only has multiple movies lined up for release this year, but she is also being roped in for several big projects. A recent report has suggested that the actress has been approached to play the lead in the much-awaited Dostana sequel.

Last year, it was reported that filmmaker Karan Johar has given a green signal to the sequel to his 2008 rom-com, which starred John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

Talking about Alia, who will be seen in Karan’s upcoming productions Kalank and Brahmastra, and his directorial Takht, a source told Mumbai Mirror, “The conversation has begun, and Alia has liked the idea. She will hear the final script and close the formalities soon.” “Casting for her two male co-stars is presently underway after which Karan will make the final announcement. Preproduction on the film has also begun,” the source added further.

Meanwhile, Dostana was directed by Tarun Mansukhani and was woven around the life of two men (Abhishek and John) who pretend to be homosexual to share an apartment with a girl (Priyanka) and eventually fall in love with her.
