Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ based on real incidents set in 1990 in Kuwait

Raja Menon’s ‘Airlift’ film is as simplistic as its title – Us vs Them. It is based on real incidents set in 1990 in Kuwait- the time of famous Gulf war when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.

The film revolves around Akshay who plays the role of Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman who had always seen himself as a Kuwaiti and not Indian, but who with the help of the Indian government, safely evacuates 170,000 Indians back to their country. This was the largest and most successful evacuation attempted by any country in the world.

The film directed by Raja Krishna Menon is produced by Bhushan Kumar along with Nikhil Advani and Vikram Mehrotra. The film is slated to hit the theaters on January 22 next year.
