After two decades of performing in front of cameras, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is now stepping behind the scenes for her first directorial job.
The 44-year-old “Blue Jasmine” star is set to helm a physiological thriller titled “The Dinner”, the Hollywood Reporter said.
The film, set at a dinner in Amsterdam, will explore the story of just how far some parents might go to protect their loved ones.
Two brothers, one running for prime minister of the Netherlands, must make a tough decision regarding their teenage sons who have committed an unspeakable crime.
Based on Herman Koch’s best-selling novel of the same title, the project will be produced by Cotty Chubb. It is unclear if Blanchett will star in the film or not.
Blanchett is not a complete stranger to directing. She has been serving as a co-artistic director of the Sydney Theater Company along with her husband, playwright Andrew Upton.
