Aamna Aqeel, a noted Pakistani designer, who began her fashion label in 2011, launched her Eid Collection at her studio in Karachi on Sunday, 5th July 2015. The collection focused on summer pastel colors especially a wide range of white with different kinds of embellishments and hand embroidery to make each piece stand out.
The collection introduced pieces which were a fusion between western and eastern wear; a talent the designer is well-known for. Aqeel’s love for metallic spikes and hand embroidery also shined through in many of the designs; a black georgette cape with gold metallic spikes all around, white & beige straight kurtas and cigarette pants with stunning pearl and beadwork, pink & green ponchos and sleeveless straight cuts with coats donning sequins and beads were amongst the favorites. One outfit which became a huge hit amongst most of the attendees was the designer’s Marilyn Monroe pieces which were made out of light and airy fabric, and made them versatile.
Her aim is to offer the women of Karachi affordable luxury and has priced her collection between Rs. 5000 to Rs. 25,000; however, most of her pieces are priced at and around Rs. 7,000. Quality is one other aspect the designer kept in mind when bringing together her collection, for that reason all her fabric as well as the embellishments are brought in from Dubai, UAE.
Guests in attendance were Maliha Rao, Naveen Qazi, Farhat Kapadia, Nefer Sehgal, Saba Choudry, Sarwat Gilani, Naz, Mr. & Mrs. Mohsin Feroz, Deepak Kumar, Fahad Yaqoob, Arsalan Bilgrami, and many more.
The collection will soon be available at Labels (Karachi, Lahore, & Islamabad), Brands Just Pret (Karachi, & Abu Dhabi), as well as L’atelier in Lahore.
