‘Summer Fest 11’ brings underground stars at musical night
Islamabad—”Summer Fest 11″, a musical night with leading underground talented stars from Federal Capital was held here on Friday at Kuch Khaas to mark the World Music Day falling on June 21. The organizers termed the event as a night to remember for the youth providing an opportunity for amateur and upcoming student stars in the city.
DissBelief and Maria Unera Qureshi were the highlighted performers of the show while Rakeez El, Waleed Chengazi and Salik Shah gave opening acts and established artists Arieb Azhar and Naeem were the guest appearance.
“Whether you enjoy listening to classical, rock, pop or folk music, they all have a different cultural background. The overall objective of World Music Day is to show appreciation of all music genres,” said one of the participants of the show. The power of music breaks down language and cultural barriers, said the performers. “Music affects us all in some way; whether we are listening to the radio, or even socializing, music is all around us, forming harmony and connecting us through pitch, rhythm and tempo,” they added.
On World Music Day, musicians perform for free in open spaces, including parks and public squares, as well as indoor venues in many countries while unofficial concerts also take place giving an opportunity to commune and share a bond through a musical identity.
